Southbound To Corpus - A Walkthrough

I am going to try something a little different this time around. Rather than write out an entire diatribe, I am going to attempt, key word being attempt, to keep this post a little on the shorter side while still providing as much context as possible. Instead of crafting an entire story like I typically do, with maybe one or two embedded images followed by a whole gallery, I am going to share the images separately. I figure it would be fun to walk you through my post-work adventures by writing a small blurb to accompany each image, depending on what I deem to be appropriate.

The reason for this pivot and change of pace is largely due to the fact that this particular work trip down to Corpus was, well, rather uneventful. It was also in the middle of spring break, and the places I normally wander around after any work-related activities were packed. This trip wasn’t bad by any stretch of the imagination. A lot was accomplished, and a ton of forward progress was made. There just wasn’t anything super noteworthy to share. No dramatic start, no troubles with my truck. Just a typical and slightly underwhelming out-of-the-office workday. Now, I am sure that I could have come up with something, but doing so would not have provided as genuine an experience as I want to offer.

So, with that being said, and with what might be the least amount of rambling I’ve spewed in a good while, let’s get on with the post and a walkthrough of my post-work explorations.

The first stop after the work-related portion of the trip wrapped up was Nueces Brewing Co. Pictured here is their Citramatic IPA. It is one of my favorite SMASH brews.

After enjoying a brew, I set off on a walk down Shoreline BLVD. This is a palm tree.

I typically start my walk on Shoreline around the Islanders Courts.

The crowds were definitely larger than what I normally encounter. Most of the time, I come across only a handful of people. Spring break certainly brought in an influx of visitors, and changed the way I approached my walk.

I’m not too keen on crowds, so rather than drop down into the sand, I kept on walking along the sidewalk.

I opted to keep walking and venture out to areas without people.

Just thought the contrast between the light and the shadows was neat.

There were, at least at one point, a couple of Lime Scooters under the water in this spot.

A view of the crowd on McGee Beach. The Emerald Beach Hotel, as well as the First United Methodist Church can be seen in the background.

Oh, look, another palm tree. I ventured to the marina area off of Lawrence ST.

A Laughing Gull taking flight.

The next frame of the same Laughing Gull.

A research boat doing research type things.

Just liked the textures on this super weathered dock cleat.

Plants will grow just about anywhere.

Boats tied up in the marina.
